A red status ring on your P1 Meter means something is wrong with the device’s connection or communication. This can be related to your Wi-Fi or the connection to your smart meter. There’s a difference between blinking red and solid red. Below you’ll find what you can do to fix it.
🔴 Blinking red
A blinking red status ring means the P1 Meter is not connected to the internet or your Wi-Fi network. The device is offline and cannot send data to the HomeWizard app.
Possible causes:
Wi-Fi connection lost: for example due to a changed Wi-Fi password or weak signal.
Router or modem restarted: the device temporarily lost connection.
In rare cases, this can be caused by a firmware or network issue.
What you can do:
Check the power supply.
Unplug the P1 Meter from your smart meter and plug it back in.
Check if the ring briefly lights up red (startup phase) and then changes color.
No light at all? → Your smart meter’s P1 port may not be supplying power.
Try using a temporary USB power adapter or USB-C power adapter.
Check your Wi-Fi.
The P1 Meter only works with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
Make sure your Wi-Fi network is active and that the name or password hasn’t changed.
Ensure the signal is strong enough in your circuit breaker box (you may need a Wi-Fi extender).

Restart the device.
Unplug the P1 Meter from the smart meter for 10 seconds and plug it back in.
Wait about 30 seconds and check the ring color:
🟢 Green / 🔵 Blue: connection restored.
🔴 Red: still offline → continue to step 4.
Set up Wi-Fi again.
Press and hold the button until the ring starts blinking blue (Wi-Fi setup mode).
Open the HomeWizard app → Devices → + → Add P1 Meter.
Follow the steps to reconnect the device to your Wi-Fi network.
Check for updates or outages.
In the app, check if a firmware update is available.
Still red?
If possible, test the P1 Meter on another smart meter or Wi-Fi network.

🔴 Solid red
A solid red status ring means the device is not receiving data from your smart meter. The P1 Meter is powered on, but it isn’t receiving measurement data through the P1 port. This issue is usually not related to Wi-Fi, but to the communication between the P1 Meter and the smart meter itself.
What you can do:
Check whether the P1 Meter is properly connected.

In some countries, you may still need to activate the P1 port on your smart meter. You can arrange this via your energy supplier.
