Is your Energy Display not updating? Here’s how to fix It.

Are you seeing an “Update timeout” message in the app, and your Energy Display won’t update? Follow these steps to resolve the issue.

Updates for the Energy Display are rolled out in phases. This means others may already be able to install the update, while it becomes visible to you later.

As long as your Energy Display is working properly, you don’t need to do anything. The update will appear automatically as soon as it becomes available for your Energy Display.

Follow these steps to manually update your Energy Display:

  1. Open the HomeWizard app on your phone or tablet.

  2. Go to Settings > Devices.

  3. Select your Energy Display.

  4. If an update is available, you’ll see “Update available” at the top.

  5. Tap Update and follow the steps in the app.

  6. Wait until the update is fully completed. Do not disconnect the Energy Display from power during the update.

  7. After completion, the Energy Display will automatically restart with the latest firmware.

Is the update not working? Here’s how to fix it.

1. Check your Wi-Fi signal strength

A weak Wi-Fi signal can interrupt the update.

  • Move the Energy Display closer to your Wi-Fi access point.

  • Try the update again.

2. Restart your router

  • Unplug your router from the power outlet.

  • Wait 30 seconds and plug it back in.

  • Wait until the router has fully restarted and try the update again.

3. Connect to a different Wi-Fi network

Sometimes your router may block an update. If the update fails:

  • Connect the Energy Display to a different Wi-Fi network and try the update again.
    During this time, you won’t be able to connect to your P1 Meter. Once they are back on the same network, they will reconnect automatically.

  • Do you have a mobile hotspot? Create a hotspot on your phone, tablet, or laptop and connect the Energy Display to it.
    Preferably use mobile internet instead of your home network.
