How to connect my Growatt inverter

Previously you could login using your Growatt username and password. In 2025 Growatt has released a new API that uses an API key instead, which provides better stability and security. This method replaces the previous username and password method.

To add your Growatt solar inverter to the Energy App you need to generate a API token. You can generate this token in the ShinePhone-app for monitoring your solar panels.

Requirements and functionality

  • For this functionality Energy+ and a Growatt inverter with an internet connection are required.

  • The API data is available in the Energy app per 15 minutes. It is not possible to view the live data as with the HomeWizard kWh meter or P1 meter.

  • The data is only read from the moment of connecting, there is no support for historical data.

  • API connections are subject to external factors, such as changes, stability, speed and accuracy of third-party devices and services. The user agrees to understand that HomeWizard can in no way be held responsible for the availability and correct functioning of third-party APIs.

Connecting your inverter


In the ShinePhone app go to ''Me''(bottom right) > ''account name''> API Token. Create and copy the token by pressing the copy icon on the right.

Now go the the HomeWizard Energy app. Go to Settings > Devices > Add device > Growatt and paste the API token. The app will now connect to the inverter.

Troubleshooting


If your graph shows incomplete or no data, make sure that your inverters are in the same installation. You can check this by going to the Growatt app.
