With smart tasks, the Energy Socket can switch automatically, for example, based on schedules, consumption, or solar production. Is a smart task not working as expected? Follow the steps below. In most cases, the issue is solved quickly.
1. Check if the Energy Socket is online.
Smart tasks only work when the Energy Socket is connected to Wi-Fi.
Open the HomeWizard app and check if the device is shown as online.
Do you see a gray icon or a message that the Energy Socket is offline?
→ Check your Wi-Fi connection or reconnect the Energy Socket.
Also check the Wi-Fi signal strength:
In the app, go to Settings > Devices > your Energy Socket and view the Wi-Fi strength.
For reliable operation, we recommend a Wi-Fi signal strength of at least 65%.
Is the signal strength lower?
Temporarily test the Energy Socket in a different location, closer to your router or Wi-Fi access point.
If it works well there, the signal at the original location is likely too weak.
Tip: Unplug the Energy Socket, wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in.
2. Check the settings of your smart task.
In the app, go to 'Smart tasks' and check:
Whether the task is enabled (the switch is turned on).
Whether the times and time zone are set correctly.
Whether the correct Energy Socket is selected.
A small difference in time or device can be enough for a task not to run.
3. Are you using solar-based smart tasks?
For smart tasks based on solar production or surplus, the following may apply:
There is no production or surplus at that moment.
The set threshold value is too high.
Tip: verlaag tijdelijk de drempelwaarde om te testen of de taak reageert.
4. Check for conflicting smart tasks.
Sometimes multiple tasks for the same device can work against each other.
For example:
A solar task that turns the Energy Socket on when there is surplus.
A schedule task that turns the Energy Socket off at 10:00 PM.
Check whether tasks are alternately turning the device on and off.
5. Check if the Energy Socket is up to date.
Make sure the latest firmware is installed:
Go to Settings > Devices > your Energy Socket.
Do you see Update available? Tap Update.
Updates improve the reliability of smart tasks.
6. Restart the app or reactivate the task.
Sometimes it helps to turn the smart task off and back on, or to restart the app.
If the issue persists, you can delete the task and create it again.
Good to know.
Smart tasks only work when:
The Energy Socket is online
The settings are correct
There are no conflicting tasks active
The firmware is up to date
The Energy Socket always executes the most recent command given via a smart task.
