Does the Energy app support widgets?
Updated over 3 weeks ago

Energy supports widgets on iOS.

You can add widgets by pressing and holding the home screen of your phone and tapping the + icon in the top left corner to configure your widgets.

How can I add widgets?

Please note that widgets are only supported on iOS (iPhone and iPad).

Widgets can be added by pressing and holding an empty spot on the iPhone screen. Then press the + icon in the top left corner of the screen and select the Energy app.

You can now choose from 2 types of widgets in different formats:

  • Widget with graphs: A graph with associated numbers and costs, as shown in the app.

  • Widget with values: A widget with just the values. Ideal if you are not interested in the graph or want the widget to take up less space.

By repeating this process, you can add multiple widgets in different formats.

When you create a new widget, the first chart with the 'today' period is used by default.

How can I change a widget?

Please note that widgets are only supported on iOS (iPhone and iPad).

After adding a new widget, the first chart is used by default. You can change this by long-pressing the widget and selecting a chart and period of your choice. After making the desired settings, tap anywhere outside the 'popup' to save the changes and return to the home screen.

Note that some charts visible in the Energy app will not be supported as widgets.

How often is a widget updated?

Please note that widgets are only supported on iOS (iPhone and iPad).

The widgets are updated periodically. The Energy app retrieves the 'recent' widgets every 5 minutes and all other widgets every 30 minutes. However, iOS itself determines (based on several factors) when it actually refreshes a widget, so it may not actually refresh every 5 or 30 minutes.

You can 'force' the refresh of all Energy widgets by opening the app.

What does the 'recent' period mean?

Widgets do not support a 'now' view like the app does. That's why they have the 'recent' variant: it shows the value at the time the widget was refreshed.

Note: Charts that do not support 'now' in the app will also not support 'recent' for widgets.
