When selecting a kWh Meter to get insight into the energy production of your solar panels, car charger or heatpump or other power group, you need to check if your device is connected with 1- or 3-phase power wires.

  • A one phase device has 2 or 3 wires (Line, Neutral and sometimes Ground)

  • A three phase device has 4 or 5 wires (Line 1, Line 2, Line 3, Neutral and sometimes ground)

The kWh Meter you need is dependant on the amount of wires that need to be connected to fully measure the device. Your house can have a 3-phase connection, if the device is 1-phase, you need a 1-phase kWh Meter to measure the device.

Both 1- and 3-phase kWh Meters support op to 100A per phase of continuous load. This means it care bare up to 4 times the average households max load capacity. More than enough for any implementation.

The HomeWizard kWh Meters do not require a ground wire. It is also possible to install the 3-phase kWh Meter without a neutral wire 3P3W as well (contact us).
