The measurements in the HomeWizard app differ from those in other apps. Why is that?

Differences in measurements between the HomeWizard app and other apps or data sources for energy measurement can have several causes. Below are the most common reasons for measurement discrepancies.

Solar panel inverters measure the energy production of your solar panels. The HomeWizard P1 Meter registers the consumption from and solar surplus to the grid.

The difference between production and solar surplus is the amount of solar power you consume directly in your home.

If your solar panels produce 1000 watts and your home appliances consume 750 watts, the P1 Meter will register a solar surplus of 250 watts to the electricity grid.

By connecting your solar panels with an inverter integration or a kWh Meter, you can also see the production of your solar panels. Your solar consumption and total power consumption will also be displayed.

In some cases, other apps may use a different method for rounding numbers up or down. The HomeWizard app rounds up or down to the nearest number, including decimals where possible. Other apps, for example, might round down to the nearest whole kWh instead of including decimals.

Ensure that the time selections in both the HomeWizard app and the other app are the same. Some energy suppliers use different start dates for a month than the first day, such as the start day of your energy contract. The measurements in the HomeWizard app are accurate to within a few seconds, which may not be the same in other apps. It is also possible that the local device time is used for logging measurements, where deviations of several minutes can be normal, whereas HomeWizard devices use atomic time for high accuracy.

It may be that other apps are less accurate in their measurements. Most inverters for solar panels have an accuracy deviation of up to 5%, while HomeWizard has less than 1% on all devices.
