How do I install the Watermeter?

Updated today

The HomeWizard Watermeter is suitable for analog water meters from the brands Zenner, Sensus, Itron, Actaris, Hidroconta, Schlumberger, Elster, Honeywell, Maddalena MVM, DH Metering, and Diehl Metering. This article explains how to connect the Watermeter for each brand of analog water meter.

Step 1: Place the bracket.

The package contains three different brackets and four different types of screws.

Check the photos below to see which bracket and screws you need for your analog water meter and how to attach the bracket.

Zenner water meter

Zenner

Zenner water meters are compatible and are attached with bracket 2 and two screws (PS4/16).

Itron, Actaris, Hidroconta and Schlumberger water meter

Sensus water meter, type 2

Sensus

There are two different Sensus water meters with different attachments. Look carefully to see which one you have to attach the bracket correctly.

Sensus (1) is compatible and is attached with bracket 2 and two screws (PS2.6/8).

Sensus (2) is compatible and is attached with bracket 1 and two screws (PS2.6/8). If the cover of this Sensus water meter is in the way when placing the bracket, you can turn the inside of the water meter (it is separate from the outer casing).

Most Itron, Actaris, Hidroconta & Schlumberger meters have a cap at the screw point that can be broken out. See the image on the side as an example for the three different caps. This water meter can also be black or blue.

Water meters from Itron, Actaris, Hidroconta, and Schlumberger are compatible and are attached with bracket 1 and one screw (M4/12).

Elster and Honeywell water meter

Water meters from Elster and Honeywell are attached with bracket 1 and two screws (PS4/16).

Diehl Metering Water Meter

Water meters from Diehl Metering are compatible.

These meters do not have screw holes. You can click bracket 3 onto the water meter instead of screwing it on.

DH Metering water meter

Water meters from DH Metering are compatible and are attached with bracket 2 and two screws (M2.5/12).

Maddalena MVM water meter

With Maddalena MVM water meters, the bracket is upside down. You should hook the bracket on the left side of the water meter and screw it tight on the right (with one screw, P2.6/8).

Pay close attention to whether your analog water meter allows for this.

Step 2: Power supply via cable or batteries.

Power the Watermeter. Connect the supplied USB-C adapter for real-time insight into your water consumption. Don't have a power outlet nearby? Then place batteries (not included as standard) in the Watermeter. You will then get insight into your water consumption four times a day. These batteries need to be replaced approximately once a year.

Step 3: Place the Watermeter.

Place the Watermeter in the bracket by clicking it into the round opening.

Problems with your Watermeter?

My Watermeter is not measuring (correctly)

First, check if the Watermeter is placed tightly (correctly) on the analog water meter. After this, you need to recalibrate the Watermeter. Go to Settings > Devices > Watermeter > options (three dots) → ‘recalibrate sensors’.

Is the Watermeter still not measuring anything after you have performed the steps above? Then check if the USB-C adapter is still working properly. Some adapters may become less effective over time, causing the Watermeter to lose connection. Disconnect the current adapter and connect a different one, for example, the one from your phone. If the Watermeter now works, the adapter was the problem. Is it within the warranty period? Then contact our support team via the green button at the bottom right of this page. Is your warranty expired? Then buy a new USB-C adapter to use your Watermeter optimally again.

My Watermeter shows a consistent wavy pattern

In 99% of cases, this indicates a leak. Our Watermeter gives a signal for every 300 ml, resulting in a wave in the graph. You can check this by noting the reading on your analog water meter in the evening and again the next day and comparing these readings.
