My Plug-In Battery shows an error code, what does it mean?

Updated this week

Keep your battery up to date

We continuously improve the Plug-In Battery's software. Make sure your battery always has the latest version for optimal performance. You can find instructions here: How do I check if I have the latest software on my HomeWizard product?

Error codes

We understand that an error code can raise questions. That's why you'll find an overview below with the most important notifications and their explanations. Messages with an E-number are notifications of a deviation or communication fault within the battery.

🚥 With an error code, the battery has detected a deviation where the battery is not working optimally. If one of the safety sensors detects a deviation or fault, the battery will automatically shut down.

⚠️ Important: Never repair or open your Plug-In Battery yourself. This can be dangerous and may void your warranty.

💬 We always recommend contacting us via the chat function (green button in the bottom right of the screen) when encountering an error code.

E100 to E199

Internal battery protection
The Plug-In Battery has detected an internal problem.

E200 to E299

Communication issue with the controller (P1 Meter or kWh Meter)

Steps to try:

  • Follow the instructions in the app to reconnect the controller.

  • Ensure your Plug-In Battery is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network and is on the same network as your P1 Meter or kWh Meter.

E300 to E399

Inverter-related protections

  • E326 & E327: The battery inverter is not responding or responding incompletely, causing a disruption in charging/discharging. Restart the battery by turning it off for one minute and then on again. If the problem persists, contact support.

  • E308: A voltage deviation has been detected. Are you using battery software version 1.0305? Then this message may appear incorrectly. You can resolve this yourself by turning the battery off for one minute and then on again. We are working on a permanent solution in the next software update. Do you have a different software version and still see error code E308? Then contact our support department.

  • For other E3 inverter-related problems, contact support.

E400 to E499

Battery Management System (BMS) related protections

  • E400 to E403: Communication problem with the BMS. Restart the battery by turning it off for one minute and on again. If the problem persists, contact support.

  • E404 to E440 & E463 to E499: General BMS fault. Restart the battery as above; if the problem recurs, contact support.

  • E415, E422 & E441 to E448: Cell measurement outside the normal range. This can cause reduced capacity and/or efficiency. Contact support.

  • For other E4 BMS-related problems, contact support.

E500 to E599

Energy measurement deviation or grid connection fault
The Plug-In Battery has detected a deviation or fault related to the battery's energy measurement or the grid connection.

  • Check if the battery is connected directly to a wall outlet.

  • Check if the wall outlet is undamaged and of good quality.

E600 to E699

Temperature sensor protection
There is a problem with one of the temperature sensors. Either a measurement is out of range, or there is a sensor fault.

  • Ensure your Plug-In Battery is in a well-ventilated area.

  • Avoid direct sunlight.

E700 to E799

Water detection sensor protection
There is a problem with the water detection sensors. Either a measurement is out of range, or there is a sensor fault.

E800 to E899

Orientation & impact sensor protection
There is a problem with the orientation detection sensors. Either a measurement is out of range, or there is a sensor fault.

  • Ensure your Plug-In Battery is on a flat surface.

  • Check if your battery has any damage.

  • Restart the battery by turning it off for one minute and on again. If the problem persists, contact support.
